Summer Events for Seniors in Kansas City

There’s an abundance of things to see and do in the Kansas City area during the summer season.  At Claridge Court, a senior living community in Prairie Village, Kansas, we are just 20 minutes away from all that this big city hub has to offer.

Here’s why we at Claridge Court love our region’s summers so much, and some suggestions for ways that you, too, can enjoy all this season has to offer.

Why Kansas City Summers Are Special

Here are some of the reasons why summers in the Kansas City area are so special.

  • People are more active. Midwesterners love the summertime! One of the great advantages of living in this part of the country is that one can experience all four seasons, and Midwesterners make the most of all of them. Everyone is eager to get outdoors and travel. That means there’s always something to do in the summertime.
  • Exploration is easy. The summer months are the perfect time to hop in the car and travel around the area. Prairie Village is just a short drive from nearby Overland Park, the second-most populous city in the state.
  • There’s an abundance of outdoor events and festivals. The Kansas City metro is a hot spot for summer events and festivals of all varieties. Many of these celebratory events and festivals occur between Memorial Day weekend and the Fourth of July holiday.
  • Baseball is in full swing. If you’re a baseball fan, then Kansas City is the place for you. Both the Kansas City Royals (a Major League Baseball team) and the Kansas City Monarchs (an AA baseball team) are actively playing games throughout the summer.
